I have always wondered: what lies beyond this planet? Every time I gaze at the night sky, this question haunts me. Beyond our solar system are countless stars, worlds, black holes... The vastness of the cosmos seemed to me to be something only an orchestral work could capture. This piece is inspired by Cygnus X-1, a black hole that emits a particularly unique trail of light.
The first part of the piece reflects this trail before it is consumed, characterized by long, sustained sounds and a bright, shimmering atmosphere. It gradually transforms into darker, more powerful sounds, guiding the listener into the unknown realm of black holes—the incomparable force and destruction they embody. The composition is a back-and-forth, a struggle between light and darkness.
The orchestral format allows for a wide range of colors, each capable of evoking distinct sensations, like the feeling of being in space, surrounded by unknown dimensions and boundless grandeur. Much like an orchestra, which seeks to express new concepts with each performance.
